Green wood hoopoe (Phoeniculus purpureus) in Savuti, Chobe National Park, Botswana. Formerly known as red-billed wood hoopoe, this is a large bird native to Africa, common resident of forests and woodlands. This species has a purple back and long tail, white chevrons on the tail edges and a long, thin, curved red bill.
