Queen of Clubs playing card standing court Belgium 1860

This Queen of Clubs is a standing court card from a rare test print. It was produced by a Belgian manufacturer in about 1860. The number 2129 shows that this was a test design for the manufacturer, and not intended directly for distribution to the public. Standing court cards (standing courts) are a sign of age: the court card design is not reversible, top to bottom. Another sign of age is the square corners. The overall design is based on de la Rue's court cards type D3 design, which was introduced in 1840.
