Berlin, Germany October 26, 2013: The Empty Library, also known as Bibliothek. Memorial dedicated to the remembrance of the Nazi book burning that took place in the Bebelplatz on May 10, 1933, and led to the loss of 20,000 books. The memorial, from 1995, was designed by the Israeli artist Micha Ullman. The glass on the surface serves as a window to the underground library with its vacant bookshelves that could harbor the exact number of 20,000 books. The blurred and rainy reflection of people on the glass reinforce the feeling of loss and empty.
