Sulphur and Gas, Underwater Volcanic Activity, Sangeang Island, Indonesia

Sulphur causes the yellow color of the ocean floor, gas bubbles everywhere, as if hundreds of dives where around and just a lonesome Leather coral Sarcophyton trocheliophorum is there. The huge volcano of Sangeang (1949 m) erupted in 1988 leading to the evacuation of all the island's inhabitants. There's now just one small village close to the shore where the islanders live temporarily during the dry season. North Sangeang, Sumbawa, Indonesia, 8°7'36.04" S 119°3'25.24" E at 6m depth
